Dutch ComicCon, and the Greenest Book Ever

Batten down the hatches, Europe, because guess who’s coming?

I’m very pleased to announce that I’ve been invited by the American Book Center of Amsterdam to appear at Dutch ComicCon in Utrecht on 18-19 November! My timetable is as follows:

Saturday 18-11

11:00 – 12:00 Signing at the ABC stand

13:30 – 14:30 Signing at the ABC stand

15:00 – 15:30 Q&A – Tales From the Black Library: writing novels in the Warhammer 40K Universe with author Mike Brooks

15:30 – 16:30 Signing at the ABC stand

Sunday 19-11

11:00 – 12:00 Signing at the ABC stand

13:30 – 14:30 Signing at the ABC stand

15:30 -16:30 Panel –  To Battle! Writing Fight and Combat scenes in Fantasy with authors Mike Brooks Cathinca van Sprundel en Lysander van Mazee

16:30 – 17:30 Signing at the ABC stand

I’m incredibly excited about this (not least because I’m a LotR fan and Elijah Wood will also be there). It’s the first time I’ll have been to the Netherlands since the late 90s when I was part of a youth orchestra that played as part of a festival. All I remember is that we were on one of many boats going down a river, or possibly a canal, and it occurred to me that it must have been very confusing for the people on the banks who repeatedly got thirty seconds or so of music before it was gradually drowned out by a different tune. Also I discovered that I didn’t like the taste of Dutch beer, but when I reached legal drinking age in the UK I realised that actually I didn’t like the taste of any beer; so no hard feelings, the Netherlands.

The other thing I’d like to bring to your attention is this:

This is the Special Edition of Brutal Kunnin, and it is the greenest thing I think I have ever seen: which is only appropriate, really. I don’t know when it’s coming out yet (no, seriously, they don’t tell me these things, so you get no clues from me) other than “before the end of the year”, which is what Warhammer Community said (they also gave you the first chapter for free). More news when we get it!

Until next time, stay safe!

  1. Hi Mike,
it was great meeting you! Thanks for a good chat and a signed book, I look forward to reading it (after I finish The End and The Death). 🙂
Enjoy your time in the Netherlands!
    Cheers
    Stefan (the Kaneda guy)
