Waterstones-tastic

We all love Waterstones, right? Stalwart of the British high street, 3-for-2 offers, often a coffee shop, perhaps the last big bastion in the face of Amazon’s attempted total dominance of all things book-related (with no disrespect to indie bookshops, who don’t have the same individual market share but have vastly more scope for specialist interests, and the personal touch). And you know something else physical bookshops do that Amazon doesn’t? AUTHOR EVENTS!

I have two Waterstones events to announce (so far) for this spring, one of which I mentioned in my last blog post. You can check them out at my Events page, but I’ll cover them here too:

Thursday 6th February: Warlords, Kings and Warriors at Waterstones Covent Garden, 6pm

Join me, Anna Smith Spark, Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Richard Swan as we talk about the trope and depiction of The Man Of Power, with a particular focus on its use in fantasy.

Tuesday 4th March: Adrian Tchaikovsky in conversation with Mike Brooks, Waterstones Nottingham, 6.30pm

Exactly what it says on the tin, really: I interview Adrian about his upcoming scifi/horror (I think, judging by the blurb: I’ve only just received a copy and still need to read it!) novel ‘Shroud’.

I know these events are only really accessible to those local to them (and the start times make it difficult to get there unless you work locally), but I’ll hopefully see some of you there 🙂
